Sexual & Reproductive Health

"The line between Sex and Couples Therapy is becoming finer and finer" - Sue Johnson, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy
I was one of the first graduate students under the mentorship of world-renowned Sex Therapist and Researcher, Dr. Marta Meana, in her human sexuality lab at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).  Dr. Meana has been widely recognized for her contributions to the field of women's sexual arousal and desire, was featured in a pivotal New York Times article on the topic and was hosted by Oprah for her theory that women's sexual desire comes from being desired by their partner

In addition to focused study on sexual and reproductive health in the lab, I also have experience providing psychotherapy in the following settings: OB/GYN group practice, women's clinic, couples clinic

I'm an experienced sex therapist and sex researcher
My advanced clinical and research training in the field of sexual health AND couples therapy through Emotion Focused Therapy places me at a unique advantage when it comes to helping couples who are struggling with sex

Most therapists are trained in either sex therapy or couples work.  This can mean that if a couple seeks general therapy, although relationship distress declines, sex may not improve.  Conversely, couples seeking sex therapy only without a focus on the relationship may see an improvement in their sexual performance in terms of the "mechanics" of sex, but may not report that they are experiencing optimal sexuality, greater sexual connection or satisfaction

My training and experience in both sex and relationships allows for the integration of the two, permitting me to focus on sexual functioning within the larger picture of your relationship

I've worked extensively with the following sexual and reproductive health issues:
  • Hyper-Sexuality & Compulsive Sexual Behaviors
  • Pornography Addiction
  • Affairs
  • Infertility
  • Pregnancy Loss
  • Postpartum Depression
  • Menopause Transitional Concerns
  • Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain
  • Low Sexual Desire
  • Low Sexual Satisfaction
